Changing Cox WiFi SSID and Password

This is necessary to change the name of your WiFi signal being broadcast to your devices.

    1. Download the “Cox WiFi” app on your phone.
    2. Tap Sign In.
    3. On the pop-up message that displays “‘cox’ Wants to Use ‘cox.net’ to Sign In,” tap “Continue.”
    4. In the in-app browser window, in the User ID field, enter your primary Cox user ID.
    5. In the Password field, enter your Password.
    6. Tap Continue.
    7. The in-app browser window closes, and the “Cox Wifi Overview” screen displays.
    8. From the bottom toolbar, tap WiFi.

  1. From the WiFi screen, tap the WiFi widget.

  1. From the WiFi display, tap the Blocked Eye icon to display the WiFi password and tap “Edit WiFi settings.”

  1. From the Edit WiFi Settings screen, is the toggle switch next to Split Bands enabled?
      1. If no, then tap to enable.
      2. If yes, then continue to the next step.
      3. Please be aware that you want split bands, even though it is not recommended. Cox has to cater to the lowest common denominator of systems. You can be assured your system will operate better with split bands.

  1. Update your WiFi settings.
    1. In the WiFi Name field, enter a network name.
    2. In the WiFi Password field, enter a password.
    3. For the security mode, you want WPA2-PSK (sometimes WPA2 is the only option). However you do NOT want WPA3 for compatibility purposes.

  1. Tap Save. (Remember, you want Split bands enabled)
  2. From the WiFi Settings Changed screen, tap Close.
