Control4 App Remedial Actions
If you are having troubles with the Control4 app, please follow these steps to begin the troubleshooting process. Most customer issues are generally the result of Apple or Control4 making changes to the mobile environment.
- Completely close the app and all other apps currently open on your phone by swiping up from the bottom of the screen to the middle. When all open apps are displayed, swipe them up individually to close them out.

Select your profile icon in the upper right corner of the app store. Scroll down to see if there are any pending updates for the apps on your device. You can either select “Control4 for OS3” specifically from the list or tap “Update All” to ensure your app is up to date.

- Once your phone is rebooted and you can access the web or your emails, test your Control4 app.
- If the Control4 app is still not working on your phone, please consider updating your phone to the most recent version. This is done by going to the Settings app on your phone, scroll down to “General” and select it. Select “Software Update” and choose to update to the most recent version.

- After performing these steps, if the app is still not operating correctly, let us know and we will take remote action and determine if we need an onsite visit to correct the problem.

- Broad sweeping statements like: the app doesn’t work/connect are not very useful to our diagnostic process.
- Are you accessing the system remotely, or at the house with the system?
- Have you installed a VPN on your phone?
- Have you purchased a new phone?
- Does the app provide you with an error code?
- Did you recently change your Control4 password?
- Did you recently change your email on file with Control4?
- Does the app mostly work, it’s just missing certain features?
- Is there an internet service outage in your neighborhood?
- The more specific you can be when explaining the issue is incredibly helpful.
