How to play any audio from your device using Apple Airplay

In this example, Apple Music is the service being used but this applies to any app like YouTube Music, Spotify, SiriusXM, etc. Additionally this process can be done by anybody on the WiFi and does not strictly require the Control4 app to work.

  1. Start by listening to a desired audio source on your device.
  2. Swipe down from the top right corner of your device.
  3. Tap the concentric circles with a triangle icon.
  4. Scroll through the list of devices on the network until you find the appropriate Control4 listing.
  5. Select the Control4 option and wait until the check mark appears. Your audio will stop playing on your device and begin broadcasting in any zones set to auto-start.

If you need to make changes to the active zones or adjust volume, do the following:

  1. Open the Control4 app.
  2. Select the sessions icon in the top right corner.
  3. Select the active rooms icon in the sessions menu for the active audio stream.
  4. Select which rooms you want to be active and set their volume to the desired level.

Pro Tip: If you’d like any zones (rooms/areas of the home) to begin automatically at a preset volume when you begin Airplaying from your phone, just let us know which zones and at what volume you’d like to have included. This is beneficial as it should alleviate the need to always open the Control4 app after beginning to Airplay.

Pro Tip: Because Airplay is stopped during phone calls, we recommend using a device like an iPad for casting music via Airplay especially during events in order to prevent interruptions in the music.
